The branch of the National Center of Expertise for the Almaty region found elevated levels of styrene, benzene and xylene in two samples of Chinese toys.

Thus, in the “LQL BEAUTIFUL” doll, an excess of the toxic substance styrene was detected by 5.4 times (with a norm of 0.01 mg/dm3), benzene by 8.6 times (with a norm of 0.01 mg/dm3), xylene by 1, 3 times (at a rate of 0.05 mg/dm3). The TOYS water pistol also turned out to be unsafe, where the styrene content was 4.7 times higher (with a norm of 0.01 mg/dm3), and xylene by 6.9 times (with a norm of 0.01 mg/dm3).

According to laboratory specialists, xylene and styrene are very toxic and harmful to the nervous system. They have an irritating effect on the mucous membrane of the eyes and skin. With prolonged exposure, benzene can cause drowsiness and dizziness.

As part of product safety monitoring for the month of October, the branch examined 16 samples of children's toys.

In connection with the identified violations, these products were included in the register of non-conforming products ( http://reestr-np.kz/rus/ ).
